This book defines and explains the 1973 Constitution with the help of the case law of Pakistan, India and other countries. It also refers to the previous constitutions of Pakistan for guidance. Its special focus is on the Objectives Resolution, division of powers between the President and Prime Minister, the constitutional role of the Armed Forces, the role of the superior judiciary in interpreting the constitution and constitutional issues, emergency provisions, federalism and Islamic provisions, etc. There is also significant discussion on the provision and enforcement of fundamental rights.

The author takes the reader step by step through each and every article of the constitution, discussing it threadbare and placing it in its proper juristic context. The author gives his own views on the subject of Article 2 A (Objectives Resolution) and also cites the views of several well known jurists. The decisions of various judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the four High Courts are also incorporated. In this context, the speeches of the Quaid-e-Azam. Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Liaqat Ali Khan and Biarat Chandra Mandle (a minority representative) are also relied upon.
